In the movies, whenever somebody is keying in data, you hear a tinny beep for every key depressed. Or if data is being displayed on the screen, the computer makes a blllluuurp blllluuurp sound or a be-be-be-be-be-be-beep sound.

But my laptop doesn't do that. So what is the point?

It's just to make the movie more exciting. Older films even let the PC make a matrix printer screeching sound when they write something on the screen. Silence in a movie is boring.

To get your Laptop to do those sounds, get Nullsoft Beep. Its a freeware program, that lets your PC sound just like the PCs in the movies.
