A person's attitude toward learning Is obvious. Want to learn and apply yourself, you will be much better prepared and have learned much more. Are you asking does your attitude influence your grade? Oh yea. Just like anything else that is subjective, part of your grade reflects your attitude. You learn much more in school than what you read in a book. If you come to class prepared and contribute to the class, you should get a better grade. A good way to raise your grade is 1) greet your teacher by name when you enter the classroom because in large classes they will then have to know your name and will look at you positively, 2) sit in the front of the class where you can be seen (be prepared if you sit there but then most of the people that sit in the front are prepared), and finally 3) answer at least one question each day in class especially if no one else volunteers to answer. Do this and your GPA will go up substantially.

Well, if you think the course you are taking is not interesting or useful, you are less likely to learn what you need to thouroughly. You won't be actively participating in learning.

Do you have to answer questions outloud, sit in the front or even talk to your prof. to actively learn? No, not at all. You do have to answer question for yourself, ask questions and maybe even answer them to yourself and pay attention when you're in class, doing your assignments and when you're reading. It's easier to do these things when you are positive about what you are learning, so at the beginning of each term or when you sign up for a course ask yourself, why is this interesting or what are the pratical applications of this information and why am I learning this? If you're answer is negative or 'because it's required for my degree' go back and try again.

It's also easier to do well when you think you can do well. If you have a positive outlook on your abilities and set goals and reasons for such goals, you're more likely to succeed. Don't become self defeating and convince yourself that you are unintelligent or unable to pass a certain course. Tell yourself that it is possible and utilise all resources available to you. You have to be willing to take responsibility for your own education and that alone requires a certain attitude.
