I'm Japanese. Um, it's hard to summerize our culture in a few words, so I'll just tell you stuff in bullet points.
-We are the nation everybody loves to hate in the Far East.
-Many of our cultural traditions derive from ancient China.
-Our food is simple and elegant, nothing fancy that takes a long time to cook.
-Traditionally, art is simple and minimalistic as well.
-Japanese hierarchy is in order of age.
-Traditionally, families teach their children to be submissive and respectful towards other people, although 20 yr olds are typically the exact opposite.
-We make the best cell phones in the world :D haha .
I don't know much about what Japanese guys would want out of a girl though, guys are my thing :p .

By the way, don't bring up anime. Anime that Americans watch is mostly designed for 7 year olds.

You should just talk to them, like anyother person and be a good friend. There the same as everyone else

(but just in case here are some little points of facts [dont be prejudice])

most Japanese believe in elements of Buddhism and Shintoism.(NOT ALL!! many of my japanese friends are christian)

Anime comes from Japan and many love ANIME!!

Most of my Japanese friends watch alot of anine, if you want something to talk about you should watch some episodes of Bleach, Naruto and Gunslingergirl.

Final Fantasy VII is your favorite RPG.

if they call you say "Moshi Moshi" (only on the phone)

In Japanese tradition honor is valued greater than something. In historic Japan, Shoguns led their Samurai to victory in opposition to different shoguns in order that they would rule that aspect of Japan. Ninjas have been evil, assassins in cover. Seppuku is the Japanese time period for suicide. When anyone dedicated a dihonorable deed, above all in struggle, they have been pressured to committ Seppuku wherein you stabbed your self with a protracted knife within the left aspect of the belly, dragged it accross the stomach, pulled the knife up after which twist it. The dying's outcomes comes gradual and painful however it used to be probably the most honorable factor to do.
