My searches tell me no, they are not. And yes, polygamy is still practiced by some Mormans, although illegally. Whether or not legalizing gay marriage would allow them to make a case for their own lifestyle is a great question and we'll have to wait and see. The "right" is using the slippery slope argument to scare people into thinking that once you legalize one thing a host of others will follow. Personally, I think it's great, since I have seen how badly hetero couples have destroyed the institution of marriage. Divorce rate in my state is at 52%... Good question, sorry others had to give such rotten answers.

There are Fundemental Mormon polygamists, they are not however part of LDS. There are a lot of LDS that are upset that these people are being called Mormon. But other than polygamy they follow most of mormon doctrine. The original reason the Mormons stopped practicing polygamy was for no reason other than Utah wanted statehood. That was one of the conditions to statehood.
At any rate these fundamentalist Mormon groups have said that they will persue legal marriage through the court system if Gay marriage becomes legal. Now if they courts see their rights that way is another story, but that is what they say they will do. Doing and saying are two seperate things.
I do not believe the Colorado city groups in Arizona would have the money to finance lobbying this. There are some wealthy polygamists in Salt Lake City Utah, that might though.
There are other polygamist groups that aren't tied to Mormonism fundamental or otherwise.

Jeez, people are mean. There is a few around, but their numbers are so small, that I doubt they have the finance. I think most of it is used for their own legal needs. I think there is a legal way around the issue for polygamist. The are married religiously, but not legally. Who is to stop you if you have multiple partners. As for the same sex, I doubt it would affect polygamy. There is no real fight to legalize same sex nationally. THe main effort is to take it state by state. The only National effort is to keep the decision on same sex marriage at state level.

Do you follow the news? These wierd little sects promote pedophilia as far as I'm concerned. They get rid of the competition(boys in the family) so all the dirty old men can "have" the hot little 14 yr old girls. Then they hide behind their Bible to justify their deviant behavior. I'm still wondering where you got this same sex connection with it though.

first off, get your facts straight. Mormons did practice polygamy, but THEY DO NOT ANYMORE. WAKE UP! and so, because of this, no, it would not mean that polygamy would be valid. It would only mean that same sex marriage would be valid. Grow up!

In Congress who financially supports or opposes what is a more closely guarded secret that how to make a nuclear bomb. Money, Congress, and the Truth do not make a pair.
