When the answering machine was invented the first one sent out in the US had a default message recorded. The person who left the default message had dropped a bit of factory metal on his foot and had sworn on the machine so loud that it caused feedback and thus came out as a beep. Since then it has become tradition to have a beep after the outgoing message as a sign to leave a message on the machine.....nah I'm just messing with ya kid. beep

generally if call your own voicemail (should be % dial a million), it would want to properly be like, "for extraordinarily own concepts, press 4" or some thing to that result and then it would want to provide the alternative to record a own message. some messaging structures are not waiting to get replaced besides the undeniable fact that and also you're stuck with the automatic message.

OMG the secret is out! Now they will have to abolish the beep! You sir, will have investigators at your door in less than 48 hours. I suggest you pack now and run for the border!

yes: sh**.

but have you ever heard more than one beep. In that case, it might be a phrase, such as:

Please leave a %$#@^&* message....

Like they really don't want you to leave a message at all...
