Muskets, bayonets, and sabers. The Americans had these plus a few farmers actually brought pitchforks, and some used rifles. The Brits were supported by cannon fire from the sloop Lively. The only reason the Americans ultimately withdrew was that they ran out of ammunition. British casualties far exceeded that of the Americans.
