Have you tried seeing a doctor? Though I would try to handle it without the use of drugs, if you are unable to sleep, and it interferes with your daily life, I would suggest you try some sleeping pills or something. I don't believe there is an actual "cure" for insomnia. Sleeping pills are just like a band-aid on a cut. They temporarily cover up the problem, but it's still there.

you need to develop some sleep hygiene. You need to get a night time routine and stick to it. Try to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day. avoid anything with caffeine after late afternoon. Do not eat/drink a couple hours before going to sleep. Avoid watching tv an hour or before going to bed. If you can't fall asleep within 20 mins get up and do something like read...and try to go to sleep in 20-30 mins. Exercise this helps insomnia and depression. Depression and suicidal thoughts are actually more common than you would think for people in your age range. If you don't think you can talk to your parents about it, talk to your guidence counsler and they will help you. Talking over things with someone who can help you problem solve and show you a different prospective is more helpful then you may realize. From one girl to another girls are crazy at your age. One day they are your friend, the next they are not for no apparent reason. Find some new activities and meet some new friends.

I've had this problem in the last 6 months... It is very bad.
I asked questions about it too, but they only answered what to do about depression.
But I think of going to my doctor, next week. And I'll ask her what to do about these problems.
If your doctor will prescribe you some pills, you better be careful, because I know many pills are very strong and you could get addicted. Plus, if you combine some of these pills with alcohol, it would be just like taking illegal drugs.
Better find what you're missing in your life and try to mend it as best as you can.
There are also different types of tea, you could buy a box of tea from a supermarket, I don't know what type... look for a tea that doesn't contain caffeine (sometimes called "theine"). In my country where I live I saw a tea for sleep, but I didn't try it yet. I think of trying it in a few days, but I don't expect much from such a thing. But what do I have to loose?
Good luck!

There's a few things you can do. Set up a routine that you do every night. Start with a cup of hot tea every night before bed. Also soak in a hot bath before you go to bed. An hour before bed take a benadryl pill, tylenol pm, or melatonon. These will help you relax. Listen to some quiet music and try not to have any distractions such as a tv or loud radio.

Maybe you should try some exercise like going for a good run or doing some aerobics. Work up a sweat so you will be so tired you will just fall asleep.

Also try having a regular massage session every fortnight, this will help to relieve any built up stress and help you too relax.

All the best

You need a way to break your pattern thought habits. Thought patterns can be cyclical and self-escalating and it helps to learn first to recognize them and then to anticipate them so we can avoid them. This does not mean that you don't worry about things. It only means that you don't worry about them more than you need to.

You can try giving yourself permission to take a break from thinking about things long enough to get some sleep. You can try a form of meditation or prayer.

I like to sit at my computer and type out my thoughts/prayers. It helps me to direct my thoughts and keep them under control while I'm getting them out. It works pretty well and by the time I get them out, I'm usually ready to sleep.

I'm not sure that you're religious, and if not, please feel free to ignore this last part. If you are religious: I'm religious and I recently changed the way I pray. I used to express worries when praying and that was what my prayers were, really. I tend to get into cyclical thought patterns if I'm not careful and that way of praying was like gasoline on the fire for me. lol Now, I still speak my concerns while I'm praying, but I begin by being thankful and then after I speak my concerns, I move on and simply ask for strength and peace for another day and also to learn whatever morcels of wisdom I need to each day.

Good luck!

I'm suffering the exact same thing right now. I would suggest some green tea with ginseng, followed by a warm shower, then as soon as you get out of the shower stretch. That would normally get me really tired. If that doesn't work then you can go for sleep pills, but make you can't get addicted to them by searching them up on the web first. Hope you get to sleep!

SEE YOUR DOCTOR. I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM DUE TO A HECTIC SCHOOL AND WORK SCHEDULE. I'VE HAD INSOMNIA FOR YEARS. UNFORTUNATELY NO AMOUNT OF SLEEPING PILLS HAVE BEEN ABLE TO HELP ME, I GO ON ABOUT 3 HOURS OF SLEEP A DAY.

THIS ISN'T HEALTHY. SEEK THE ADVICE OF YOUR HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONAL. I NEED TO DO THE SAME!
