After 6 years of misguided war, Bush is finally loosing support among the American people. Why won't the Congress empeach him? The Congress empeached Clinton for far lesser offence. Any ideas? I hope for a more indepth answers, both social and political standpoint of view.

That's easy. Because we had a Republican House and Senate. There is NO WAY they would have impeached Bush before. Now that we have a Democratic controlled House and Senate, Bush is having to be a bit more cautious with his moves as the Democratic controlled Congress will not let him do everything as freely in the past. As far as Impeach him, yes there are those who feel that way, I certainly do, but there is not enough support to make this happen.

There are several reasons, but before I enumerate them, let me help you. The Invasion of Iraq started in 2003, thus is only about 3.5-4 years old. Oh, also, it wouldn't hurt you to pick a spelling book as well. You might want to change your question to, "Why won't the congress get rid of Bush AND Cheney?" Now, the Congress won't impeach Bush for several reasons, but I'll just list a few here. 1) The first six years of his administration, the congress was Republican controlled and they chose to look the other way while Bush committed most of the crimes for which he could have been impeached. During those years he constantly chose to go outside of Federal Law and our Constitution to do whatever he wanted and it can be easily proven. 2) Now that congress is Democrat controlled, they still won't impeach Bush now, because that would not benefit them politically either. A long embittered trial to impeach Bush would only further jade the American people and that doesn't bode well for Democrats. 3) Democrat leadership has chosen to put the pressure on Bush by leaving him in office and forcing him to make the tough decisions concerning Iraq and the country, thus anything negative will leave an ugly mark on his legacy and not on the Democrats. 4) No one wants Cheney as a President because he's an even worse criminal than Bush. He's profitting from the war, so the longer it goes the more he makes. Plus, it would be quite difficult and, no less, a history-making feat to get rid of the both of them. 5) Though congress is controlled by Democrats, they would need to gather all their physical proof against him from the last 7 years, wait for the best opportunity (preferrably after another of his blunders), THEN gather the support not only of all Democrats (all of which don't see eye to eye) but also of a large percentage of congressional Republicans (many of which are die-hard Bush supporters, some being accomplices to his crimes). There are many other reasons, but I think these are the top of my list.

Well to get an impeachement trial at this point there would have to be a "bombshell" of new information that came out about wrongdoing on his part. I mean information that hasn't been out in the last four years because lets face it the Democratic leadership and the citizenry has taken every little thing real or imagined and beaten it like a redheaded step-child. More than that there would have to be substantial evidence to back it up. The new leadership in congress understand what kind of political dynamic would be created if the president were to be impeached at this point and it would only cause a power vaccuum at a time when it is critical that we have leadership. If bush were impeached the next in line would be Cheney. Now maybe he would have health problems and step down and the Democrats would finally get what they want and stop bitching like damn babies. However, partisan issues aside, I doubt Nancy Pelosi's ability to lead the country through the next year and a half and I dont think I'm alone in that thinking. Why dont you just ask "who hates the president?" It seems more your speed of a question. Nice low softbal for ya.

For the executive branch, only those who have allegedly committed "treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors" may be impeached. Clinton lied to a federal investigation, kinda non-debatable, illegal. Also there was a Republican congress for a while there too huh?

In a nut shell... you don't get impeached for not being well liked or agreed with. Look up the definition. Glad that my tax dollars went to that fine education of yours.

On what grounds? Besides all the heated rhetoric he did nothing legally wrong. So no matter what your political positions the whole talk of impeaching Bush is irrelevant.

To be impeached he must violate the law, he has not done that. Clinton lied under oath top a federal Grand jury, that is what got him impeached. Not the BJ
