Superb Question.
Others can talk about violence and terrorism; but I believe these are less important to the long term interests of humanity than the one crisis that looms over the 21st century like Banquo's ghost -- energy.
Liberal estimates of reserves indicate that Petroleum and natural gas deposits will run out by the beginning of the next century. As a result, we will see steadily rising prices in this century, and a far more pronounced impact on economic development. The great tragedy is that this could be the century when third world economies can begin to emerge from poverty. But to do that means they MUST have access to energy, which will become so expensive it virtually locks them into poverty in perpetuity.
And this also means that competition among the developed economies for these precious resources will become greater. This can lead to increased political as well as economic instability in the developed nations.
Unless we find alternative, abundant, and clean burning fuels -- unless we can begin the process of reversing dangerous greenhouse gasses, this century may very well be the nail in the coffin for all of us.
Is violence and terrorism a problem? You bet. But compared to the problems of perpetual poverty, political and economic instability, and the destruction of the environment, these other problems are but a pin-prick.
Again -- my compliments on a great question. Cheers, mate.

I feel the greatest threat to mankind. Is mankind itself. We have become so far technically advanced that we have left our animal instincts to survive lying in the dust. When technology fails, and it will. Evolution will start again.

I feel that mankind is a threat to itself and will inevitably drive itself into in-existence. We create threats that not only mankind has to deal with but so does the environment and animals around us. But just as one hand makes threats, one hand fixes those threats.

perhaps the greatest threat to mankind is man himself...
man, who was made beyond other creatures, is believed to possess greater capabilities than most. these capabilities may be known or hidden (just waiting to be discovered).
the mysteries held by mankind (even from itself) pose as a threat to itself for the abilities it possesses may be used for its own undoing when used for the wrong motives.

Only mankind is threat to mankind. If we are developed, this means we developed ourselves, but if we are ruined, this simply we ruined ourselves. Human-being is the closest friend and greatest enemy of human.

non secular Intolerance - gained't be a authentic chance to mankind, yet in a way it is going to create lot of chaos and small conflict, yet no longer a conflict. yet i doubt Racial intolerance will carry about a conflict. yet as of now the non secular intolerance is further and added instantly ahead than the racial intolerance. yet for positive non secular intolerance will carry about a lot of racial intolerance faster or later or different and for the reason that racial intolerance is kind of a Volcano might want to be a authentic chance to Humankind ( Mankind is extra male chauvinistic ).
