how long after a death is the funeral?

typically, how long is the period between the death of an individual and his/her funeral/burial?

It depends on the country and the religion and even the cause of death. In some religions people are to be buried within 24 hours. In some places funerals take place later. I think it's common in Western countries that the funeral takes place 3-4 days after the person dies, but there are many exceptions.

Could be between a week and an entire year. There are preparations that need to be done in order for the funeral to pull through.

The reason why I say year is because some people actually don't have the money to support a funeral. By then, I'd expect there to be a cheap burial.

Predominately, 3 -7 days in united states of america. some families wait upon an post-mortem if suspected foul play, or unexpected, or unintended loss of life occurs. some American cultures wait longer for relatives to get into city. some families are in a hurry, by way of obtainable inheritance. some families will bury, or cremate the very next day if allowed.................

It used to be three days. Today, it is not unusual to wait for a week. It is so cruel to have family members wait so long for a funeral. With deaths of close family members in my family, we were so worn down from all of the grieving of only three days. Myself, I want to have my death taken care of in a day.

Depends on the situation of death. In normal case it may be about an hour or two........Sometimes more delay can be due to waiting for some close relatives. Criminal cases are delayed due to legal formalities .........Why such a question....it makes me nervous.................
