an intelligence quotient 90-110 is consiered average, not because that's a middle score, but because that's what the largest chunk of the population scores.

It's assumed, for example, a police patrolman can't have an IQ over 115-120, because they'll get bored of the job. Havign an IQ under 70 would disqualify you for many government jobs. Mental retardation is about 50 IQ.

Also, men are more likely than woman to have very low IQ, but also, men are more liekly than woman to have very high IQs, ie, woman tend to be more averaged and men spread out.

a high IQ doesn't matter!
so you can complete a jigsaw puzzle 3 minutes faster than me, or, you can memorize all of colonial america's greatest generals, or you're an unbeatable chess master.
It's more impressive to be more tangible, and accessible, than being top of the heap.

Bill Gate is just another nerd, but he was the force behind DOS and Windows... what if he spent all that energy on ungeons and Dragons? POINTLESS!

Will Smith has a high IQ, would he be a better person for using it to further a career in accounting? I think not.

It's not what you have, it's what you do, and how you contribute to the world around you.

It was once assumed the average IQ of the world was 100.

However, statistical data shows that it's about 90. The average IQ in the United States is 98. Canada 98, England 100, Japan 105.

The IQ scale is relative to the test being taken, since there are so many "IQ" tests out there, they are not all scored the same and the result is often mixed. I have seen the standard score set at 100 and I have seen it set at 110, but like I said, it's all up to whomever designed the test being taken. Seeing that you received a 120, you'd be considered above the norm on any test out there, good job : )

The average person's IQ is 100. The test is designed so that this is true.

Genius level is generally reckoned to be 160

It depends if it's a legitimate test or not. If it's just an online test it probably doesn't really mean much. If it's a true standardized test then 117 is very respectable better then average.

100 is average. Age makes no difference. It is scored so that 100 is average for your age.
