I was wondering is it ok to have sex before a physical? Can they tell if you have any semen in you? A couple of weeks ago my friend went to the hospital for a gyn and I was waiting for her outside and I heard the doctors speaking and one lady doctor was saying "she never saw so much germs"- I felt that was unprofessional. How can you talk about a patient to where as other people can hear.. Now being a nursing student I know they are to practice Patient privacy and for one they did not.
I told my friend and she felt very embarrased but then she remembered she had sex with her man and he ejaculated all in her and she didnt feel so bad anymore. Do you think it was right for what they did? Can something be done?

I know it was my friend she was talking about because the two doctors came out the same room my friend was in.

You aren't suppose to have sex 48 hours before an exam.
Tell the doctor you intend on filing a complaint with HIPPA for infringing on your privacy.

Yes you can tell if there is sperm with a microscope.
They may have been talking about something from an earlier conversation because GERMS are not visible with the naked eye an nor is sperm.
You may have misunderstood the conversation and there isn't a violation of patient rights when there was no name mentioned, nor type of "germ". They don't normally have microscopes in the patients rooms so if "germs" were seen it was not in that room and it wasn't on your friend.
Also, I don't think I would have told my friend in fear it would make her feel bad.
Nothing can be done when there wasn't a violation. The best thing to do is tell your friend you misunderstood to save her anymore shame.
You can have sex before your exam...they'll just know.

First of all, you should not have sex for 24 hours before a physical. It can make the test results difficult to read.
And secondly, yes the nurse was very unprofessional. Have you considered the fact that she may not have been talking about a patient?

Is it possible that they were talking about someone else? OR maybe your friend really does have germs and was totally embarassed. But it seems like they were talking about someones else. They dont know if there are grems until they run the tests. You should mention to the office, call them up, and tell them what you heard. If you remeber the nurses that were talking you can tell and they will get in trouble. The office can get sued for this.

they should be reported. it is totally unprofessional and it violates Doctor/Patient confidentiality. Doctors can only speak to other health care professionals on matters of patients when totally necessary and in privacy, not in waiting rooms or where other patients can hear.

nope , but we can't condemn them , you know no one is perfect and everybody has his own skeleton in his wardrobe - it means everybody has his own secret or sin
what about this lady doctor , here I'm agree with you ,her nonprofessionalism can insult someone and what about patients privacy then?
