I am gay. I am in a committed relationship with another man for six years. We have a very strong, monogamous relationship and love each other dearly.
We both work full time jobs. My partner is a teacher and I am a business consultant. I am working on a Master's Degree. I am on the homeowner's association committee in our sub. We both do volunteer work and are active in many other community and social organizations.
We have one problem. We can't walk down Main St. in anytown USA holding hands. We have to be careful in movie theaters not to be caught touching. We don't dare show even the most simple forms of affection to each other in uncertain situations in public.
My question is HOW CAN THIS BE RIGHT?
PS for those who will talk about loving the sinner, but hating the sin, the bible also talks about sacrificing goats and sheep for a bountiful harvest. Not to mention the punnishments that are appropriate for slaves. So lets be objective and not quote the bible

No, it's not right to be forced at gunpoint by your neighbors to not show any sort of affection towards your partner in public. Then again, in the "Anytown, USA" where I live people of the same sex show affection towards each other in public without fear or confrontation. Maybe it's your "Anytown" that has a problem. We're raised in a world where our own community tells us to hold back for our own safety unfortunately and it leads to situations like yours.

I don't think that it is right either... Where I live you can get arrested for doing that around my house... I say just go for it and do it. I ended up missing out on being able to do all those things with my ex and I wish to this day I wouldn't of been so afraid to show how we felt in public. I regret it everyday. Hope you two have a good life together =D

Book Of Leviticus
Chapter 18
22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind, because it is an abomination.
23 Thou shalt not copulate with any beast, neither shalt thou be defiled with it. A woman shall
not lie down to a beast, nor copulate with it: because it is a heinous crime.
24 Defile not yourselves with any of these things with which all the nations have been defiled,
which I will cast out before you,
"Because it is a heinous crime"... In Hebrew, this word heinous crime is expressed by the
word confusion, signifying the shamefulness and baseness of this abominable sin.
25 And with which the land is defiled: the abominations of which I will visit, that it may vomit
out its inhabitants.
26 Keep ye my ordinances and my judgments, and do not any of these abominations: neither
any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourneth among you. 27 For all these
detestable things the inhabitants of the land have done, that; were before you, and have
defiled it. 28 Beware then, lest in like manner, it vomit you also out, if you do the like things, as
it vomited out the nation that was before you. 29 Every soul that shall commit any of these
abominations, shall perish from the midst of his people. 30 Keep my commandments. Do not
the things which they have done, that have been before you, and be not defiled therein. I am
the Lord your God.

I know, it sucks. I'm a straight woman and I've had gay friends for many years. It seems like these azzholes who say things to gay couples in public are always in groups. Example: a couple years ago me, two girlfriends and two of our gay male friends (who were a couple) had a picnic in the park. Us three girls were sitting at the table and the two guys were walking around. Two carloads of teenyboppers pulled in and were sitting in their cars talking to each other. One of them yelled to my friends something like "f@ggots, get a room!". I got up and went to confront them and the p*ssies drove off. People like this are absolute p*ssies and cowards. I know it's foolish to confront strangers but it p*ssed me right off.

The law enforcement in my town is to weak and lazy to arrest people for real crimes much less fake ones. Of course you've got the redneck hics to worry about.
