you are thinking like barry goldwater,
who was a cool and righteous dude,
and conservative repub who believed what you did in the privacy of your own bedroom was your own business, certainly not the governments.
i think if you love someone with all your heart,
and they are the same gender as you ,
certainly allowances should be made ,
love is love.

If you are really Conservative, then you should view the issue through the eyes of the Conservative theory of government. That theory states that men are born absolutely free to do whatever they like, but that we set governments over us for common protection, who take away some of our rights, because the rights of others or the good of society as a whole is better served by an individual losing that particular right than by them exercising it and it causing even further infringement of the rights of others.
(An example would be your right to bear arms. You were born with the right to own any weapon you can get. The government takes away your right to own a nuclear weapon, because you owning the nuclear weapon would probably lead to an infringement on the rights of millions of others when you do not mantain it properly and t oges critical.)
Now, with that in mind, it is important to recognize that everyone in the world has the right to marry whoever they like, and have the number of marriage partners they like, without it being anyone else's bussiness. The government, however, sees that the uncontrolled making and disolving of marriages would lead to a lot of problems. SO they have taken away part of our marriage rights by saying each man can only marry one woman, and vice versa; then they took away part of our right to privacy by saying anyone who marries must register their name with the government and acquire a license.
With homosexuals, their marriages are legal. Absolutely legal. Five gay men can go into a church, and if they find a minister willing to perform the act, they can all marry each other in a five way nuptual ceremony, and leave unnarested. And when they chose to split, they can split without government interference, unlike hetero divorce.Their marriages are more legal than hetero marriages, because they are unlimited and unregulated.
The government does not recognize or regulate their marriages, because it has not been demonstrated thoroughly enough that the lack of regulation causes a large enough problem for society to justify taking away aspects of the homosexual right to marriage or right to privacy by allowing the government to define and license it.

What we're seeing is the backlash before the tide turns altogether. This is just the way society works. It would be great if we could get along without the silliness. Maybe someday.
You're an important part of that change. People like you are becoming more common -- and more outspoken. Thank you, we need you.

It has nothing to do with whether or not you're a conservative republican, it's a matter of what God says about it. Most people are so willing to embrace homosexuality these days, because society is trying to teach that it's O.K. to be this way, while at the same time totally throwing out what God said about it. The road to hell is wide and the gates are thrown wide and there's a welcome mat, and society wants to help get everyone they can there. I care enough about my fellow man to NOT want them to go to hell, rather than for them to be what society has dubbed "happy." Most of the gay people I have met are some of the most unhappy, depressed people, that constantly wonder why they're so unhappy. Have you ever considered that you're helping them be unhappy rather than happy?

there is a chance an amendment will ban SSM, but within 5 years of that ban there will be a law allowing it. its unconstitutional to deny.
the constitution says everyone has right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, so long as it does not breach anyone else's right. marriage is in that happiness for many gay people. therefore it must be allowed.

That's because society based their values and morals on religion. If there was no religion at all, there wouldn't be so much emphasis on the subject of gays and what not
