Survival of the fittest. I've no problem with eating squid, octopus, pig, dolphin, or even horse(They're picky about the food they eat, they only eat the best, meaning their meat is top of the line. tastey)! But I've only got no problem with having them as pets. Squids are actually pretty friendly I hear. As for extraterrestrials...if they were hostile, END WORLD HUNGER.. if nice...make an alliance and see if they could help us END WORLD HUNGER by donating their food.

In the beginning, I believe that it wasn't in God's plan. But when sin entered the world, I believe that God gave us permission to kill animals, as long as we used the skin or meat for something. God made the clothes out of skins for Adam and Eve, so I believe that it is okay. I don't believe that it is right to go out in the woods to shoot a deer or other animal for no use other than a trophy, but if you are using that animal for a good purpose, I say go ahead.
Mind, I would rather not go eat calamari any time soon, but that's simply because I'm squeamish, and the thought of eating squid wierds me out to no end.
As for eating a person or one of our equals...
"That is called 'cannibalism', my dear children, and is in fact frowned upon in most societies." Terribly sorry, I couldn't resist.
Anyways, I guess what I'm trying to say is: Don't plan on warming up the fava beans any time soon.

I think animals have no mind and this means that they are essentially not mind but what r they? They can be essentially body like Descartes said but Descartes was too harsh, even he said that there is nothing wrong to harm animals, because; they are like a machine. I do not agree him but I can say that eating them is OK but destroying their species, destroying the earth balance is not acceptable. They eat others, we should eat other things, food chain will work like that. In the future, if new food sources are found, which gives same proteins,carbonhydrates...e.t.c and taste, we can choose to eat other things but in this conditions and with the logic I wrote there is no problem in eating them.

If given the size and inclination I'm sure they would all eat us too. They are all predators in some form or fashion. Kill or be killed. Eat or get eaten. It's the lay of the land and crying over their death won't really solve much of anything. At least it served the purpose of providing energy and nutrients to someone. It's not personal it's survival of the fittest.

Humans are omnivores, we have the teeth to eat plants and animals, so humans apparently have evolved to eat both types of food. Weather it is ethical or not, would depend on what kind of morals you believe in. Let me provide an example, I believe that this pencil in my hand is a god, above all others...do you believe he is the one and true god (if any)?
I guess this depends on what you consider intelligent also...

whether something is acceptable as food is largely based on what society is willing to allow you to eat! no one eats dogs in the US, but in other parts of the world its ok. squid, octopus, pig meat...these are all things society is ok with...but if YOU aren't ok with eating intelligent animals...dont. (but it's not unethical per se)

Odd Question, but all animals have a level of intelligence, it is only your matter of your own ethics to eat what you like.

I say, if there is a need to survive, and we pass up the chance at survival because of some self gratifying need to allow an animal to live, I say we have become our worse enemy.......and we deserve to die of starvation......
But, never kill to kill... but only to survive.... So it is that should be.... Only to survive......
Unless of course... the dag gone creature starts to talk back at you.... It may be.... that you are its meal instead...... Oh mouth watering man that you are! Would it be ethical then, to fight back!??
Your sister,
Ginger
