I would like to put an infant car-seat in the front passenger seat.

You can't turn it off. Why would anyone want to?

In your owners manual you will find that you are not permitted to put a child safety seat in the front of your vehicle due to injury or death to the infant. the best place for the seat is in the middle of the rear seat. that way if you are involved in any collision the child is in the center of the car & away from the doors & closer to you at every angle.

i am so sick of idiots like you wanting to put child seats in the front. grow up and learn to be a responsible parent . i have nothing more to say and I'm not wasting my time. there is no such car as a mazda 5.

DO NOT PUT YOUR CHILD SAFETY SEAT IN THE FRONT!!!!
HE ONLY TIME THE AIR BAG DOESNT INFLATE IS IF THERE IS NO WIEGHT ON THE SEAT,YOU WILL NOTICE THE LIGHT GOES OUT WHEN SOMEONE IS SITTING IN THE SEAT

If it doesn't tell you in the manual, it's really really unsafe. Please call Mazda for advice at least. For the sake of your child. Also, apparently children should ride in the front anyway.
