I wont write an essay for you, but this comes off the top of my head.

Often, our own perspectives creep up on us, and we rarely ask ourselves why we think the way we do. In challenging the perspective of another, we have already questioned their perspective and decided it to be wrong. To follow up, we must provide evidence that our perspective is correct.

I think when we question another's perspective it is because it's different than our own. So if it is we say that another person thinks and acts differently than we do, or they believe in different things and have different views than we do - and we say it is wrong then we have a strong sense that what we believe or think is right. So then we challenge our own perspective, questioning whether or not our view is right or wrong, compared to another persons' perspective of the situation.

True, because to reasonably question another's perspective, one must totally revisit the issue intellectually.
That means looking at it again from all sides to make sure you (still) believe what you are saying.

If you progress very carefully and try to see the very issue from the viewpoint of the other person, I am sure that it works. You have to keep in mind that it is not a question of power but of the issue itself, however.

I myself am practising this skill all the time and hope that I have progressed at least a little bit because objectivity is needed in my own job (as well as in the family life...).
