I think the man is a careful scholar with the soul of a poet. You can learn alot about mankind's mental and spiritual evolution from him. His work, and many others ( Frazier, Jung, Betleheim etc.) who have looked at our collected mythologies, archetypes and even children's fairytales, and have led us to see a sense to the continuity of the beliefs of men These stories of how these ideas have moved humankind will allow you to examine all sorts of artistic expressions over great periods of human existence with greater understanding. You will find why Frodo must go to " Into the West."

Fairly insightful person. Haven't read any of his works though.
