I am having cramps in my left side and I feel bloated... I'm 5 DPO. My period isn't due until 24th January. I don't think I normally cramp this early but could it just be period pain? When do you normally get PMS?

okay PMS means premenstral syndrome. PRE is the key word.. Meaning you will get it prior to your period and sometimes during. A normal cycle is 28-30 days long. Day one is the first day of your period and day 14 is the usual ovulation time though it does differ slightly from person to person.. If your 5dpo then your right around day 20. I'd say its too late for PMS cramps but I wouldn't jump the gun and say your pregnant just yet..
If your timing is slightly off you could be feeling ovulation or you could be feeling implantation as well.. (some people feel a twinge, cramp or pinch on one side or both).
Another likely canidate could be that you've eaten something that didn't agree with you or that your dehydrated which would also cause both.
Usually when your pregnant you wont feel any symptoms until your missed period.. and the first symptoms most people feel is soreness in their breasts and the urge to pee often..
Also if you listen closely to your body sometimes you'll just know..
As for bloating.. You should not feel any sort of pregnancy related bloating until around week six (six weeks from the first day of your last menstral cycle.) You may feel it a week or so sooner if carrying multiples.

Lastly, If your worried about possibly being pregnant or your hoping for it.. the stress of it all could make you feel phantom symptoms..

I'd wait at least a week before testing. But if you really feel that you are buy one of the cheep tests (just as good as the others trust me!) and test first thing in the morning the first time you go to the rest room.. your horomones will be strongest then. I'd pee into a clean cup and dip the test stick in so that your sure that you get enough urine on it as well...

Hope that helps some!

Well, there's not a whole lot of difference between symptoms of pregnancy and symptoms of your period: most of them are the same! Tender, swollen breasts, cramps, moodiness, fatigue, nausea, diahorrea, etc.
However, at only 5 DPO, I would say it's too early for pregnancy symptoms: the egg doesn't usually implant until around days 7-10, so unless you ovulated a few days earlier than you think, I'd rule that out for the time (although it is possible for the egg to implant slightly earlier, and not that it's not possible you've conceived!)
However, PMS symptoms can begin any time, really, from the day you get your period to a couple weeks before. You're really only a bit more than a week before your period right now (it should be arriving in about 9 days time) so having some cramps from your period wouldn't be unusual. You may also go ahead and get some cramping as your body prepares for menstruation even if you have conceived and the egg hasn't yet implanted itself because until this happens, the body doesn't really know it is pregnant.

Good luck! I hope you get whichever you're wanting!

Your symptoms could be PMS but how ever it could be signs of something else. If the cramps are sever, stronger then normal and persist you could have a appendicitis or possible ovarian cysts. You may need to speak with your doctor.

there ireally s no difference-- almost everyone gets the feeling that their period is coming before they find out/realize they are pregnant.
pms comes 1-2 weeks before period is due.
that is depending, beause every woman is different.
