the mom is the one who is carrying the baby, so she decides to wait until the baby is born to know the gender.
the father of the child will have to respect the mother's decision.
the doctor will respect the mother's decision.
same thing wih an abortion, the man doesn't have a say in this situation. it's the woman's choice whether or not she wants to keep or terminate the pregnancy.
Wow I got a thumbs down for giving an example?

No. The doctor is responsible to the patient, who is only the pregnant woman (not her fetus nor its father). The father, for all the doctor knows, could be someone else! The doctor follows his patient's wishes, as it should be.
A wife might have the doctor tell her husband while she is not present and ask them to keep it a secret from her. Sometimes this "secret" gets spilled by accident, by the doctor or the medical staff, though, so I suggest the wife not get too uptight about it being kept a secret.

I think it's a compromise you should make and NOT leave it up to the doctor. I think as long as your husband promises (and is known to keep his promises) not to tell you, he should be able to find out. A lot of the time a doctor will wait until you leave the room and tell only him, or, write it down on a piece of paper and fold it so you can't see, and that way, if you and your husband are still undecided, you have some more time to figure out if you'd like to know.

It's not the dr.'s rights you should be questioning, it's the husbands. If he wants to know the gender of his child, all he needs to do is ask. If you don't want to know, just say no when the U/S tech asks if you want to know. Then your husband can say that he does, and have the tech write it down for him. He can look at it in the hall or later on when you're not around.

Just tell the medical staff that you dont want to know, this way they will let him know without spoiling the surprise for you, a lot of women cant handle their man knowing something more than them, so good luck with it.
i would like to know the sex of my baby and so would my bf but the medical facilities do not tell anymore due to mistakes.
CONGRATULATIONS AND GOOD LUCK

If one wants to know and the other doesn't the doctor will respect that decision and only tell the person who wants to know. If you don't want your husband to know then you should discuss that with him

If the husband wants to know the sex the husband has the right to ask the doctor without the wife having to know...the husband is STILL the father of the child and as such as the right to know if he desires to know.
