ok here's the CORRECT answer to your Q:
a good faith purchaser has superior rights to the goods as against anyone in the world, except for the rightful owner.
got that?
good faith does count.
if YOU are a good faith purchaser adn then you sold it to another good faith purchaser, you're both ok. if the rightful owner, however, tracks down the goods, the good faith purchaser must give it up, with no obligation from you. (but that doesnt mean the purchaser wont try to get somethign from you)-- also--you better make sure you actually were a good faith purchaser yourself--if you weren't THEN and only then will you be screwed. (its pretty easily discernable when the person was a good fait or bad faith purchaser.)

Here in the USA buying "in good faith" does not make you innocent of recieving or dealing in stolen goods. Unfortunatly the law demands when a crime is committed that someone pay, if they can't get the main culprit, they will nail the accessory to the crime, in hopes that person will "plea bargain" and help convict the primary criminal. If you are lucky it will only cost you whatever you paid for the stolen goods, this is done to discourage people from dealing in stolen goods and hopefully make them careful about what they buy and from whom.

What matters is the intent. You'll have to prove you couldn't have had any possible notion the item in question was stolen. That's pretty hard to do. Good luck.

Whether knowingly or unwittingly, by selling the material you have broken the law, so of course you have a responsibility to pay the money back. Failure to do so would be another criminal act that would leave you open to criminal charges, a lawsuit, or
both.

~First you said you "found" then said "you yourself bought." Which is it?
You're guilty, doesn't matter either way, you're going to jail.~
