When a machine does work on an object, energy has been transferred to the object, as a combination of kinetic, potential, and heat energy. For most cases, such as a machine tool working a piece, it's just heat energy, which is the sum of all the internal kinetic energy of the molecules in it. If the tool causes the piece to fly off into the distance (yes, this can happen), then kinetic energy has been imparted. And in rare cases, for some complicated pieces, the machine could cause it to be "sprung", or leaving it under internal tension, which would be like winding up a spring inside it. This would be potential energy. All of the forms of energy discussed here, work, kinetic, heat, and potential, have the same physical units of dimension, which is Force x Distance. A machine tool applying a cutting bit on the piece with a force F along a distance D will have done work in the amount of W = F * D.

when amachine does work on a object many types of processes occur (since you said energy i will not take therodynamics intially) the momentum from the machine is transferred on to the body which it acts and the if the body is displaced work is tobe done you know the formula W=F.S were F-force S-displacement .

Thermodynamically if you consider a simple system as the air inside a can being pushed by the piston the work is done on the air inside the bottle by the piston so the heat is contamed in the container by the second law of thermodynamics the heat produced by the piston is converted or used for the internal energy and work done

dQ=dU + dW.
as you can see the formula says everything the heat produced by the piston is used for the internal energy and work done by the piston.

think of it using newtons 3rd law for every reaction ther is an opposite and eaqual reaction.
if you push a crate with 30N force to the right there will be a force of friction to the left that ie equal to the net force from the right
