Oh there was for sure something going on and...well........uummm....I think bert was the pitcher and ernie was the catcher.lol hehe

Considering they slept in seperate beds I dont thin it was intentional at first. But later on I believe they used Bert and Ernie as examples of other types of friendships/relationships.
