i have been at my present job as a teacher's assistant for 8.5 years, at this present job we work with toddlers with special needs. I recently got offered a job as an infant teacher working with typical children. My dilemma is that at my present job I only earn 10.69 an hour but have benefits, MANY paid days off, and EXTREME flexibility from my boss. At the new job, I would only have 6 paid holidays off a year, and would be earning 12.00 an hour, i would have benefits but not the flexibility that i currently have. I am also currently continueing my education but at my present job i am not offered the opportunity to become a teacher.

If I was you I would go for the new job offer. You will be making more money and will have the opportunity for advancement. Sure you wont be getting all the great benefits as your present job, but if you stay at your present job you will never have the opportunity for growth. If you want to be "stuck" being a teachers assistant for your life then stay where you are. Otherwise, don't be afraid to see what else is out there. It could be better for you in the end. Good luck.

I think the flexibility in your current job is worth the $50 or so a week more that you'd make at the other job.

Stay where you are at as long as you're happy. The money difference isn't great enough to make a change!

If I were you, does the education I am doing helping me towards achieving my dream of being a teacher.

If yes, great! so the job that offer what you wanted to do?

If not, does the job offer you the benefits of fulfilling your dreams no matter what the extra "bell and whistles" say.

I am sure you can decide. Something in the universe will tell you that.

A change might be nice, but honestly, if you need the flexible schedule, it would be safer to stay at the job you are now. Nothing stinks worse than having to call in to a new job because your personal schedule (kids, emergencies, etc.) doesn't work with your work schedule!

Also, MAYBE if your current employer knew you had another job offer, they would raise your pay . . .

It's probably time to make a change and since everything is getting more and more expensive you may want to consider getting higher paying jobs more often.
