A wireless signal is never as strong as a "hard wired" device, no matter what. Wireless and cordless are the same. If you don't want to mess with the wires though then it works okay to use wireless anything.

Wireless mouses are a joke. Don't get one. Why would you go through the hassle of changing batteries when you can just plug it in and be done with it? Even if you have a rechargable mouse, why would you go through even that step jsut for a cordless mouse. I have never had a problem with the cords.
Cordless keyboards are among the same token, but USB keyboards really confuse me. the USB can handle 1 million bits of information per second. A keystroke is 1 bit. So, in essence, you would have to push a key 1 million times in a second to get full use of the bandwidth the USB has. While it may not seem as a big deal to you, as a programmer, you see this as a complete waste of resources. Get a PS/2 keyboard and a corded mouse.

Cordless and Wireless are the same. But corded/connected mouses should work better, because it's a direct connection between the PC and mouse. Wireless mouses need their own battery and sometimes the wireless connections get messed up (depending on interference). If you want the best mouse, look at Logitech's Gaming Laser Mouse (or something to that effect). It uses laser to track the movements and is much more accurate over bumpy surfaces than your standard ball or optical mouse.

Well, most simply, one has a cord and one doesn't. One will use batteries and the other won't. As the batteries get low the signal may degrade and it may end up missing commands sent from the mouse to the computer. Otherwise they should be equal in performance. The amount of information sent is so small that it wouldn't run into issues of losing information on the way like happens with wireless headphones (causing reduction in performance).

Better? It would completely depend on what you're using it for. The main attraction of a wireless mouse is that it's wireless, so there's going to be less clutter around your workspace. The downside is that they also run on batteries, whether it's AA's or through a rechargeable cradle.
If you're doing something that requires very precise mouse movements, like playing a 3d-shooter, then a wired mouse may be more exact for you. The average person probably can't tell the difference in response times honestly, and they make some high end wireless mice now that make the difference pretty negligible.
If you're just a home user, it doesn't matter. Get the wireless keyboard and mouse to clean up your desk, as long as you're willing to keep a pack of batteries on hand at all times.

I dont think there is too much difference in performance really the only thing gain is you dont have the wires attached in your PC, therefore your desk looks neater. With the cordless keyboard you can put it in your lap once your tired being in the same position on the desk.
