When the candle jiggled, some liquid wax splashed onto my new, full length wool coat. It's in the back near the shoulder. The wool is a deep brown mustard color and the now hardened wax is milky colored. I'm afraid rubbing it will just smear it around and I certainly couldn't heat it. I haven't found a 'Heloise's Hints' on this one. Are there possibly any Dry cleaners with this experience? Any ideas? Thank you.

A dry cleaner should be able to remove it for you. Scrape as much of the hardened wax off that you can, using a plastic spatula or butter knife - nothing that would damage the surrounding fabric.

You can apply heat to wool (carefully) if it is not wet without fear of shrinking. After scraping the excess, take a white paper towel or blotting paper and lay it over the wax stain and then apply a warm iron (no steam and not too hot) over the paper. As the remaining wax melts, the paper will absorb it. Keep moving the paper and re-applying the iron until all the wax has been absorbed and the stain should completely disappear. Good luck.

Get a old towel and place it over the area where the wax is at then get an iron and set it on the wool setting and run it over the towel until some wax starts to absorb into the towel. Then shift the towel to a clean spot and continue to do this until all wax has absorbed into the towel. It might take a little while due to the setting is quit low but it will work just take the time. Be sure not to reheat areas of the towel that you have transferred the wax to or it will melt back onto the fabric.

I have been told you get some grease proof paper and a hot iron and put the wax paper onto the wax and run the hot iron over it, It melts the wax and the grease(wax) paper soaks it up. Haven't had to do it myself but that is what I have been told a few times

I used Nutrimetics Nutriclean OLC to get the wax off my jumpers. I just rubbed it on the wax and put them through the washing machine and it worked!

place a paper bag or a pair paper towels over the wax. Use an iron on the area. this might soften the wax into the bag or towel. it works whenever you have wax on fabric or carpet.

Put it in the freezer, when it's frozen just move it around back and forth and the hardened wax comes out.

I think you freeze it with an ice cube and then lift it off, but it sounds like such a nice coat, a dry cleaner might be best.

hope it works out!
