She has been sleeping through the night since she was 4 weeks old, then she had a spout of colic for several months, but since about 4 months, she has been sleeping like a rock. But lately, she will not go to sleep, I got 3 hours of sleep last night, I just dont know what to do. I feed her enough during the day, she isnt cutting teeth...any ideas? Please!

I know exactly how you feel.
Our 7-month-old was SUCH a good sleeper ... she started sleeping through the night as a newborn. We never had to force her into a schedule. All of a sudden, she's crawling ... and she won't sleep. I called my mom in tears ... "WHY won't the baby sleep?"
If you find something that works, let me know.

The nights are long, but the years are short. That's one of my favourite mothering quotes -- and it's so true. Your four month old needs you as much in the night as in the day -- your instincts will not lead you astray - listen to your heart and remember, we are the only species on this planet that thinks sleeping far away from our young is a good idea. Ever heard of co-sleeping or the family bed? It may work for you -- and soon enough, remember, they'll sleep through the night (in a dorm hundreds of miles away) and you'll remember the sleeplessness, but also the incredible feeling of being there for another soul. There are few callings more precious than that one.

I was going through this same thing with my 7 mnth old not to long ago and the only thing i did different was turn the light out about the same time evertynight and lay down(we co-sleep) before this i was just staying up with the baby with the light on, until she was exhausted and had no choice but to sleep. now were sleeping through the night like a charm.
at first yor baby may protest but she'll get the hang of it.

Do her gums look a bit swollen? She may not be cutting teeth but if her gums are swollen that means she is about to and this may be causing her some discomfort. If that turns out to be the case, baby Orajel I've heard works well, but my personal favorite is the homeopathic dissolvable tablets. They work well for my daughters. Good luck!

Just because you can't see any teeth doesn't mean that they're not there. Teething could be one reason. Another reason could be that she is learning to use her legs and she might want to practice using them at night. When my little girl doesn't want to sleep (she's 8 mo) I try to rub her back and hold her legs and sing sweetly with the lights off.

Every baby is different...she could be going through that stage right now. It may seem like forever but I believe she will start sleeping again soon. But maybe a warm bath before bed might help.

Does she have gas? i know its sounds wierd but that can keep her up. you can buy gas drops and that will help. also just becuase you don't see any teeth coming in doesn't mean she isn't teething. you should put her on a strict schedule becuase then her body will know when to sleep. if that doesn't work take her to the doctor just for a check up and they should be able to help you there..good luck.

She could be wanting you to comfort her. I found it easier to just put the baby in bed with us. That way, we all got a good night's sleep - I know it's not a good habit to start, but do what you feel is necessary.
