The thing I would love to see is a hybrid of the BCS....Here is how it would work.

Take the top 7 bowls:

Orange, Rose, Sugar, Fiesta (currently the BCS bowls)

Cotton, Gator, Capital One (next 3 top bowls)

Take the top 8 teams in the country:

1. Ohio State
2. Florida
3. Michgan
4. LSU
5. USC
6. LOUISVILLE
7. Wisconsin
8. Boise State

Match up:

Saturday December 23rd

#1 Ohio State vs. #8 Boise State in the Sugar Bowl
(rotated each year btwn BCS bowls)

#2 Florida vs. #7 Wisconsin in the Cotton bowl
(rotated each year btwn the 3 non BCS bowls)

#3 Michigan vs. #6 LOUISVILLE in the Capital One bowl
(rotated each year btwn the 3 non BCS bowls)

#4 LSU vs. #5 USC in the Gator Bowl
(rotated each year btwn the 3 non BCS bowls)

Saturday December 30th

[Winner #1 v #8] vs. [Winner #3 v #6] in the Rose bowl
(rotated each year btwn BCS bowls)

[Winner #2 v #7] vs. [Winner #4 v #5] in the Sugar bowl
(rotated each year btwn BCS bowls)

Saturday January 6th

National Championship game

Tostitos Fiesta Bowl
(rotated each year btwn BCS bowls)

It means that the BCS method of ranking teams is not enough! That system needs to be modified into a playoff using the BCS formula to rank the teams based on won/loss record against the strongest schedules, then be placed in a playoff consisting of 16 teams so that the teams like Boise State can't complain about being left out. Then the playoff teams would be seeded similar to the NCAA basketball tourney with 1 playing 16 and etc. using the BCS bowl sites as playoff sites, each taking turns hosting the National Championship. The other bowls could still continue for the 7-10 win teams (if for some reason a ten win team doesn't qualify for the playoff) and everyone would still make money and be happy!

The only way to do it now would be to buy out the current contract with Fox and unless you are buddies with Bill Gates I don't think that is going to happen.

Oh and Boise State did not prove they could play with the big boy's. They beat a team from probably one of the weakest BCS conference ONCE. Start beating good teams year in and year out and maybe schedule some good ones then you will get some respect. Remember what happened 2 years ago when Boise State went to Georgia. It was not pretty.

There is a playoff in every college sport at every level of the game including every other level of football, except division 1-a.

If you want to see a playoff system stop watching and attending the bowl games and get a few million others to do the same.

The big bowl games bring in too much money to a select few schools for them to ever allow the system to go away.

Or

Give tens of millions to NON BCS schools so they can build the facilities to attract the players and coaches to consistently beat the BCS teams. There needs to be two or three Boise States at the top of the college game every year to bust the system.

BTW - watch out for the TCU Horned Frogs as the team to bust the BCS this coming year. They have had several 10 win seasons in a row and they have an explosive offense back almost completely intact.

It is going to take a lot of money and someone to beat into the college presidents and A.D's to get a playoff. They have this huge misconception that the "student athletes would miss too much class. Well what about the basketball players? They are gone three straight weekends for the tournament. How much class are they missing. Delany is so caught up with having this BCS system so he can prove it is a great thing. The system is also bound by a contract with networks so like it or love it we are stuck with this horrid system until there are three to four good undefeated teams at the end of the season and someone is left out.

How did Boise State prove that they can play with the big boys? By winning one game? Please.

If you want to change the BCS to get a true national champion, shoot Jim Delaney. Then we might get a true playoff.

People seem to want a playoff system but even that will bring some controversy. About all the time they would have time for would be an 8 team playoff system and that is if they started at the beginning of December and possibly cut off some of their time for their semester finals. Even on an 8 team playoff system there will be controversy about who gets that final spot or few spots. As for Boise State, I congratulate them on their bowl win. I picked Oklahoma to win that game. But I do not think they are really ready for most of the other bigger teams namely Florida, USC, etc. Maybe this game can help them recruit higher rated players to their team. On a positive side of the playoff system, if there are 2 or 3 or a few other teams who look like they can beat the No. 1 team the playoffs would give that extra room for that team to play them in the finals if they truly deserve to be there. Go Gators!

Nope. BCS has a television settlement for the subsequent 6 years. So untill then its guaranteed to stay. After that it's going to probable stay to boot. causes loads of contreversy, which equals media interest. also there are list numbers of followers going to video games and gazing the championship recreation. So finacially why might want to they get rid of it? Esp. because the money is purely chop up up between the communities and confrances taking section in contained in the BCS video games... splitting 2 billion with information from 6 is better then splitting 3 billion with information from 12...
