The primary aim of this interface is to get inputs on skills required, course content, methodology etc. The potential employers help to understand the gaps in the skills required and existing *pool* of human resources. These identified gaps are built-in in the course content to realize the existing employment potential and fetch higher income levels.

the 'existing pool of human resources' are the number of candidates that are not only available, but that have the right qualifications for the particular job --these two criteria usually decrease that available 'pool' down to the real number of people qualified and looking for that particular job --it gives the employer an idea of how likely they are to fill a particular need.

in this instance , "pool" is used in reference to the number of people available to meet the employer's labor requirements.
