I have seen all the epidsodes. Now they are all repeating on LOGO. I guess I should mention I am a straight female im a committed relationship and I have several gay friends both male and female (a couple of them I would consider best friends). I am just wondering if anyone else here in the gay community thinks that series (though interesting and great) depicts gay men and women in a very over-sexualized manner. I do not even have gay friends who start making out in front of the rest of the people at their table in a restaurant etc. This would make me uncomfortable from anyone.....straight, gay or bi. I liked the show but I think the sex part was way overdone.

PS....I was not just saying they show the gay MEN as oversexual.....it is even the women! Pardon me that I do not know the characters names but it was actually the two girls who were making out at the restaurant table and earlier in that episode mentioning how many times they climax in a night. I think that gay life is not all that different then straight when it comes to what we all want which is a stable, normal, safe life. (hey sex is great but I just think the protrayal there is making it seem like that is top of the list)

PS..."just"? i lived in NYC and currently live near Atlantic City. That should answer your question. Even in straight clubs you will find outwardly sexual behavior...that is not what I am talking about here. It is middle of the day in a coffee shop, making out with lover in front of all the friends and discussing last nights number of climaxes

I absolutely love that show, but you have a point with the over sexualized manner. Mostly with the men, they make it seem that that is all that gay men do is drugs and sex. Now, yes, there are a good percentage of gay men who really do live that lifestyle, but not all. I think they try to show that side of it to, like with Ted and Emmit, up until Teds little meth kick, he is your typical homebody. Now Brian, ( I love him!) is a little ho. But, there are gay men who act like him.
I dont like seeing people make out in public either, straight or gay, but they do do it, mostly straight people. So I say, we should start doing it to so that people can see that it is just as nauseating as to hets going at it in a resturant booth! I only kiss my partner at other gay establishments, sometimes we hold hands in public, or maybe a little peck on the forehead, but still get all kinds of **** for that. Do straight people get looked at funny for holding hands? I think not. QAF is only trying to make good points about being gay, and they depict it pretty well.

But a crucial point of the show was that it portrays to the audience all kinds of gay people. Brian was the most "oversexed" character. But the show went to great lengths to thoroughly examine Brian's personality and to explain why he behaves that way. Michael was a very different kind of gay man than Brian. Emmett had a lot of sex, too, but much less than Brian. But then Ted was different than Emmett in terms of sexual experience and frequency.

Yes, it is over sexualized, but have you ever really been down to the "gay ghetto" area of a major city on a Friday or Saturday night?
Trust me, there really are diners like Debbies and you really will see that kind of behavior going on.
But it's only in those kinds of neighborhoods.

I'm from Chicago and on a Friday or Saturday night around 2am when half the clubs have closed, Melrose and Waffle House are PACKED!

And yes, there really are clubs like Babalon and they really do have "back rooms."

Well i dont wantch the show but what you said about making out in front of everybody and on the tables, i would say it does make gays sound "over-sexual"

just like anything hollywood-style series or movies they are always over sexualized, over emphasize over sensationalize, and over and over again and again!!!and the funny part of it is that people watch and like it and patronized it.
