hey u know wht?
even im plannin to study in the UK...and I've promised myself I'm not gonna let my dad spend a single penny on my MS.. It's not that he can't...I just wanna do it on my own..and so I'm planning to get a student loan.
The MS course there is for one yr - which brings down the cost if u do a 2yr Masters in the US for eg. Also u can work upto 20hrs a week and support yourself...
if you're determined to do it - then u surely can!
all the best!

I would suggest, do ur general ed. classes in india. Then tell ur hitler dad that when you have degree from UK. you will get find job easier and get more money when u work in india. Whatever the expense for study is, you will be able to pay back later. Just take some loans if its too expensive, It's worth it. If you get degree in UK with good grades, you can get chance to work in UK company too. So maybe you can tell him that, maybe that will help.

I have the same problem:
But first and most importantly, does your family have the money to send you to the UK? If that's a yes then you can move on to step two.
My family does not want me to continue my studies in America (they also think its too expensive and far away) but luckily they have the money to do so..so it is not totally out of the question. I try to show them that I can take care of myself (i'm a girl so they tend to worry more) .. and convince them that getting educated abroad will allow me to meet more people (because most well off families send their kids abroad to places like UK, USA, CANADA) ..so there is better chances of meeting more people :) And education there CAN BE of better quality because all universities/colleges etc are accreddited ,, sure its expensive but there is a reason why it is expensive. Tell him he's getting more in return for this "investment".
Good luck getting what you want for your future :)

Yes it is expensive.
If whatever you intend to study is available in India wouldn't it be
better off and cost effective to enrol there?
What reason motivates you to study in UK?
If you father's decision is based only on the cost aspect then it means that he cannot comfortably afford it. Would you therefore not
feel a sense of quilt while in UK knowing very well that your father was being inconvinienced as a result of your tuition expenses in UK?

It certainly is. If you have the resource (money) for study as also stay in UK, I think you can convince your father. Good luck.
