In radial tyres the plies are wired across, radially (latitudinally).
In ordinary tyres, the plies are wired along the tyre longtitudinally.

"Ordinary" tires are bias-ply, which means that the cords embedded in the rubber to give strength to the tire run at an angle. In radials, the cords run radially; there is also a belt of steel fiber under the bearing surface to strengthen the tire against road hazards such as potholes. Bias ply tires are basically obsolete.

The direction the belts are installed in them.
The other tires are called BIAS BELTED or bias ply.
Correct for radials is RADIAL BELTED.
I think.

Radial tires are all weather tires. A little more expensive but no worries about changing into snow tires.
