As far as I know, Neil Young is the first person to come out with "Down By The River." Not only did he release it with Crazy Horse, he also played it as a melody at the end of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young's epic live release: "4 Way Street."
"Down By the River" is one of my favorite jams EVER!

The original is by Neil Young & Crazy Horse. It was first released in 1969 on their classic LP Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere.
