i have no idea if you have some sort of restraining order, charges against you, deemed by a court of law to be unfit (or whatever).

but if you dont; you have a right to know where and a right to see your children.

1) contact your local Legal Aid Office. they are in all states and most counties. they go on a sliding scale so its free to most people. look in your phone book, call your county court clerks office or your states Bar Assoc for the number.

2) call your child support caseworker. tell them exactly what you've said here. they will be able to tell you what papers you need to file or who you need to call.

Where are you sending your child support checks to? There are lots of ways to find people, try calling 411, use websites such as anywho.com, zabasearch.com, and even myspace.com to find them. You can try contacting her family, as well as old mutual friends to see if they know where she and the kids are. There is a huge fathers rights movement in the court system right now, so try getting an attourney through one of them, or at least check out some of the groups and see what information you can get from them.

Stay as current as you can on your child support, the courts are going to take you more seriously that way. If you can locate her, try modifying the custody agreement so that it states that each parent must always have updated residency information, as well as a minimum of thirty days notice of a move.

After a certain amount of no contact between you and your kids (the time limit varies by state) she can sue you for abandonment and try to have your parental rights taken away from you which would allow someone else to adopt the kids. This is another reason why you dont want to get behind in your child support. in most states the support counts as contact and she cannot sue for abandonment.

Keep fighting and searching, your children need you in their lives.

Is she in contempt of court for not letting you see them? Even if you are behind in child support, as long as you are trying, a court will find her in contempt. If you have lost time on the job due to unforseen circumstances, you can probably get a reduction. If you have bought a new pickup and those payments are eating your paycheck, tough...your kids come first. You send the money somewhere for her to get it. The clerks office will have her forwarding address (if you pay to the court house). If you are honestly trying, secure a lawyer and see your kids. Tell that biotch to never keep them from you again or she goes to jail.

I can aswer this question...first find a way to at least make peace with your kids mom. Try your best to start catching up on your payments, call your kids more and if that doesn't work- write them individually. Send them presents not just on b-days and Christmas but 'just because' (there are ways to find them believe me). Then start taking a course that will get you a better trade for more income. If ever you get in touch with your kids tell your kids that you are sorry for making bad decisions that have affected them in a way that makes them feel that you don't love them but you are doing something right now to change it. While you are telling them that realize that if may take a couple of years or so but just make sure that you commit to it. They will see that you are a man of Good Character. You will be surprised to find out what you have right now to become close to your children and even your ex. ...honesty and a changed character.

Child support and visitation are 2 different things. If there is a court order for visitation and she is not abiding by that order, she can be held in contempt.
If your CS is being taken care of through the state, try asking them where she is located. They may or may not be willing to give out that info.
If you have an old address for her, there are ways to get her new address via the United States Post office. That's how my husband found his ex wife when she took their daughter and tried to hide out.

Go to the courthouse that your child support was determined.. if it's in the custody papers for you to have visitation rights... she's in violation of a court order!!!!! As far as your steadily getting behind... take your check stubs with you... and they will probably lower the amount... they can only take a certain percentage of your income.

If you're serious about finding them and you think they're out of the country or even out of the state do NOT go to the state for help. You must hire a lawyer. Once the state is aware of it your chances are slim. I don't know why but it's true.

Keep paying the best you can. You will not be heard in court if you owe a lot of money. Down the road you can go to court and demand your rights. But you have to BE right to GET rights, got me?

...is she your "wife"? ...Do you pay support through because you were ordered to or because you want to? What do the courts say ? Like do you have visiting rights/ Was she allowed to take the kid out of state? perhaps you need a legal aide lawyer.

My husband is going through the same ****, but he's on top of his chhild support. What you need to do is stay on top of child support, then go file for visitation rights. As a father you do have rights.
