I want to build an 8x10 wood frame shed with a door and one small window with a concrete foundation. I am somewhat handy and I plan on mixing/pouring the concrete myself and building the shed from blueprints. NOT FROM A LOW QUALITY OVERPRICED KIT like they commonly display in the parking lot of my Home Depot. Has anyone tried this? I realize costs will vary greatly but I'm just looking for a ballpark. thx.

I would estimate around 900-1200 but alot depends on materials used IE siding and roof is it going to be insulated, doors can cost a little or a lot.I Personally I like Vinyl or steel for siding. Asphalt is easy to do it your self for roofing. I know you said 8x10 and I don't know where you want to put shed and if zoning bylaws will allow but I have built quite a few sheds and garages. 8x12 is an easier size and trust me that extra 2' will really come in handy. I agree most of the sheds they sell are pretty crappy and won't last very long. The worst are the cheap metal sheds. Duct tape and tinfoil would make a better shed....easier to get rid of after they fall apart too.

I built an 8x10 guinea-chicken coop on a concrete slab. A contractor poured the slab with footers for $500. He included tie-down bolts that I attached to the 2"x4" treated sill plates. The building has a gambrel style roof which gives more headroom, but the walls are 6' high anyway. The whole structure cost about $1500 to $1800.

I wanted to build an outdoor shed for my kids when I came across Ryan's shed plans collection.

I've used ito to build a 8x10 shed with some modifications. Clear directions and materials list assisted me, a non-builder, in completing the shed I wanted. It's great even for a novice builder like myself!

I did a 10 x 12 shed using a platform floor design, it cost me about $800 (and $100 of that was for paint -- it was made almost entirely out of OSB, which eats paint voraciously). But that was a few years ago, and lumber prices have increased. So, prepare your plans, from them draw up a bill of materials, then go to your favorite lumber yard and price them out. One thing I did was to use screws for construction; the only nails in the whole thing are the roofing nails holding the roofing in place.
