her family , her parents do the same . & they deal with alot of other things which lead to money . Question is : is not U.K , a bad example for the third world . A lot of presidents in third world say : Queen & family do it ; why we don't !!!

rdenig_ma , I don't agree with you about " Readers Digest " . That wouldn't change the truth that there is a queen & her larg family who recieve milions of dollars each year ; just to be a symbol !!

What do you mean ' the Queen of UK receives more than one million dollars each year....she puts them in the bank' Please supply an authority for this preposterous statement. The Queen receives a payment from public funds called the 'Civil List' which in in 2001-2002 amounted to £8.153million (about $14million at current exchange rates). This is paid out in salaries and other expenditures necessary for a head of state (see http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/static/in_depth/uk/2002/the_royal_accounts/civil_list.stm for how the money was spent in those years).
The Queen, is of course, one of the wealthiest women in the world in her own right, but she doesn't salt it all away in numbered bank accounts in Switzerland and live it up whilst the majority of the population starve, which sadly happens in the case of many third world dictators. Yeah- but ER and her family are a bigger tourist draw than Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm combined with far less overhead. When somebody pays money to go to see the changing of the guard at Robert Mugabe's place, he can say he's fulfilling the same role as ER. I'm sure the world's kleptocrats can come up with other rationalizations besides a parallel with the royal family.

This how they have accumulated their vast wealth. Nobody can really calculate what the royal family is worth.
Just their security is a huge drain on public funds.
