photo editors?

I am looking for a free trial or demo of a photo editor where you can add color to an object in a black and white photo. Please direct me to any web sites and, if you know how to do this, can you help me? Thanks

For free, the oldest is GIMP, available as freeware on the web. Lots of horsepower and a good user base. A little newer is Serif PhotoPlus6. There is a free version, but they would like you to send money and get the newer and flashier version. Have a look at GIMP first.
