Well basically because the kiss with Christina wasn't shown that much in detail because the camera was showing the look on Justin Timberlake's face after the Britney kiss.
Apparently Christina was pissed off and MTV later released a version where the Justin shot is cut short and you can see more of Christina's kiss. But by then the Britney kiss was already infamous!

coz britney made out she was all innocent and a virgin from when she started out, blah blah.
everyone knew she was full of crap though!
Christina was instantly skanky, so it wasnt a shock to anyone.
Personally, i would have preferred if Madonna was out of the picture and Britney & Christina made out, then went over a to a pool of Jello and wrested in their underwear :)
