Antivirus software is a type of application you install to protect your system from viruses, worms and other malicious code. Most antivirus programs will monitor traffic while you surf the Web, scan incoming email and file attachments and periodically check all local files for the existence of any known malicious code.
Norton is a popular antivirus

CyberScrub AntiVirus provides state of the art security protection for five years- at one low price. Our award winning technology ensures protection against viruses, worms, and trojans backed by top customer support and value

CyberScrub AntiVirus offers the most effective protection from all known and unknown viruses.

CyberScrub AntiVirus is powered by a unique integrated technology for virus detection, based on principles of multi-generation heuristic analysis. This allows the program to protect you from suspect "viral behavior." This highly effective methodology repelled all attacks of each "I LOVEYOU" virual variation without any additional antivirus database updates. No other technology, including Norton, Trend, or McAfee, was able to accomplish this.

CyberScrub AntiVirus is powerful, yet its exceptional ease of use and installation make it acceptable for beginner to pro.

CyberScrub AntiVirus constantly scans your hard drive and files to identify, clean and destroy infected objects. With updates available every three hours, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, you can count on CyberScrub to protect your valued data.

CyberScrub AntiVirus, Lifetime Edition is designed to provide reliable anti-virus protection for home computers running Windows 98/ME and Windows 2000/NT/XP. This product's main feature is its exceptional ease of installation and use. It is suitable even for beginners. Despite its user friendliness this software provides extremely high quality antivirus protection that meets and in most instances exceeds other products.
CyberScrub AntiVirus continuously checks for viruses in all opened, saved, and executed files, including archived and compressed files. Should an infected object be detected, the application will clean the infected location. A distinguishing feature of CyberScrub AntiVirus is its ability to delete malicious code from archives stored in ZIP format. Additionally, the software provides the option for on-demand scans of file contents, including files stored within MS Outlook Express. CyberScrub AntiVirus has three levels of anti-virus protection: Normal - Medium - High. The level chosen determines the level of anti-virus protection provided by on-demand checks and background monitoring.

CyberScrub AntiVirus not only scans the entire computer for viruses but can also target particular files, folders, or disks. To scan a particular object you do not have to open the main program window. You can use the Check For Viruses command that is added to the Windows shortcut menu once CyberScrub AntiVirus is installed on your computer. Software performance results are stored in log file.

Not any single one will find all the problems all the time. orton is very good and finds most. McAfee is also good and there is a free version. Computer Associates is right up there and sbc dsl offers that for free as well.

Use more than one! Also, get a couple of anti-adware/spyware programs. Adaware SE and SpyBotS&D are two freebies that are pretty darn good.

See my answer to your spy ware software question.

Also AT&T Online Protection comes with their dsl internet service, along with Pop Up Blocker, Parental Controls and E-mail Sign In Protection.

Whatever you choose, sometimes you have to turn off antivirus and spy ware software to add some new programs. Its easier to turn off Webroot because you have to totally uninstall ATT and then you have to reinstall it.
