"why dont black people stop calling eachother N****?" I guess majority rules. I know a lot of black people that don't use the word and don't like it when others use it but most black people use it. I think they don't understand how bad it is. I'm from New York and I see it used as a greeting from Asian to White, White to Black, Black to White, Asian to Black, etc. I know that they mean no harm but it makes people like u wonder.

I personally think that with situations like this, it's the right idea, but usually carried out in the wrong way.
The best way to take away the power of a certain word is to simply make it acceptable, and that's in a way what certain groups are doing. The problem is that it's only acceptable if it's someone from the group saying it. If people could just lighten up, and not take offense when other people try to use a word that's usually a "term of endearment" within the group, things would be better.
Honestly, years ago the word breast was considered highly offense, people have lightened up over the years, but there's still a ways to go.

Ever notice that gay people call each other homo and dykee? You would only notice if your also gay I guess. We call each other that out of good humor and its only a joke when its within our circle. If a homophob however called us that, its hateful. I think its much the same with blacks, if a racist calls them the N word, its hateful. When they call each other that, its between their circle and its "blood". At least thats what some of my black friends have told me when ive asked the same question.
Your right though, it is a bad example to set to your children. Adults however, should know better. And no, its not the same to call a white person a cracker or a hoosier, but I have also heard whites call each other that in good humor. So I say, live and let be.

I think that a large majority of the population should gather one day and play word association....
Use the words, f@g, Ni@@@r, and all other words that society put social bounds on, until they no longer hurt, they no longer mean anything and at the end of the day, Everyone look at each other and say this is my friend....
After there is no more offensive words to use, we have used these words so often and amongst each other and changed the meaning of them..... (the world would be a better place)

i don't know why...but it's the same reason why girls can call each other B!#ches, and it's no big thing, but when a guy uses it, he's a total jerk. black people have "ownership" of that word to use it as they please. but that doesn't mean that all black people use that word, i am quite certain that many african americans hate the word...it's not every black person.
