simple.. in an electric furnace an element heats up creating heat. a fan hooked to the heater blows it out into the heating ducts. In a gas furnace flames make the heat, like a barbeque and a fan blows the heat out. hope that helps.

Did you turn on the valve that releases heat into the furnace?
