i saw the previews for it a while ago and it reminded me alot of the book "the pearl". Does anyone know if their is anyone relation between the 2 stories?

If you're talking about a movie that's based on the book called, The Pearl. I'd have to say yes and no.
They both have similar ideas about a valued item that effects a country and makes them resort to violence for a solution.
However, I think Blood Diamonds has more focus on the international influence. It's also not as metaphorical and isn't only about one person as the Pearl sort of is.

That's acutally a good comparison, both feature a jewel that instead of bringing good fortune only bring disaster. However they are very different stories. I'd recomend blood diamond by the way
