Its simple-you capture paris you have defeated france. France is not like the US in the sense that if you capture new york or la, the US will not collapse, but Paris is the heart and soul of France and the key to victory in France is to capture Paris

Paris is the Capital of France . The prestige of France would have been badly damaged. Think what would happen to US Prestige if an invader captured Washington.

go to www.history.com and look it up there will be plenty of facts audio/visual as well. And they have been fighting for centuries for territories like animals anyway. the Gauls and the Goths. Breathing room greed power etc., what else is new?
