The spam with gibberish in it usually has an attachment that will be a virus of some kind. If not, then the idea is that they're trying to build a database of valid e-mails. By sending out hordes of e-mail and then waiting to see which ones don't get bounced back they can sell that list of known e-mail addresses to other spammers who will send real spam. Otherwise, they may simply wait for you to reply asking them to stop or what the e-mail is about and then they know that you're an active e-mail address that's ripe for spamming.

When Telemarketing became a thing of the past with the free NO-CALL lists those people said hummmm how can I work around this...and the bulk email spammers were born. Most of those work from home on the internet are these idiots, they pay like a 100th of a penny so to make a penny you have to send 100 emails. The government is coming up with a DO-NOT-EMAIL list soon. In the meantime report all spam to our friendly govemment officals that are trying to pass this bill at.
