Same boat here as far as the college thing. I too am 22 years old and thinking of going to back to college. I however lack the work experience you have. I have worked a total of 2 months. but I have a child who is a year old and I have been home with him.
Depending on the college you go to and what time of day you go ..... ex . If you go to a technical school or a career oriented school the people will be older and younger mixed like people in their 20s , 30s, 40s, even 50s. If you go to community college in the day there will be younger people in their late teens . If you go in the evening there will be older people . If you go to a regular university you will find mostly people in their late teens to middle 20s.As far as the job thing goes I do not know. You should always try cause if nothing else you tried . Don't give up you are still young.

There is nothing wrong with 22. I started at 21 and finished at 40. A couple of wars and countless military deployments got in the way Even a felony fades with time. After 7 years you need not list it. You are basing everything on your young age and unfairly condeming yourself to a life with limited opportunity. When you live for 75+ years and work for 40, what difference does a few years make?

look at it this way. no matter what you do, in 4 years you will be 26. So at 26 do you want to have a degree or not? If you do, then you will enter the real world post degree, look around your workplace and realize, "damn, I'm young. What was I so worried about starting college at 22?" Plus, when you are a senior at 25 or 26, you still have young women around you all day long! See, it's all about perspective. That being said, not gonna catch too much sympathy on the robbery thing...but that's the price you pay for making bad decisions in life.

Ha ha- that's so funny- You're still so young to be worried about being too old for college- You're never too old to educate yourself! I'm almost 35 and felt that I would be out of place too- but there's nearly always someone near my age in at least one of my classes- sometimes older! By the time I've finished my Master's I'll be around 40, but a long time ago I stopped worrying about that.

As for the felony- that may be a hurdle for you to get over, but remember that you're increasing your chances of being employable when you have a degree.

Good luck!

studying isn't a waste of time. Sucide is an rather egocentric act and that i'm hoping you reassess it out of admire to the human beings that do love you! there are various human beings in college who're not classic scholars. My dad exchange into 40 years previous while he choose returned to college. He have been given his degree and earns an rather good residing. He too felt such as you probably did (approximately being the oldest guy or woman interior the class) so he took night instructions. the human beings there have been older and greater focused and did particularly properly and enjoyed it. Granted once you graduate, you wont be waiting to get particular jobs yet there will be lots jobs which you're able to do in spite of a criminal! have you ever theory approximately getting a job the place you could help different human beings a job in counseling the place you would be able to desire to propose others against doing the quite a few issues which you probably did once you have been youthful? perhaps you could merely bypass returned to college to take some corporation instructions so as that initiate your guy or woman corporation the place you will properly be your guy or woman boss, you would be able to desire to purchase some backyard mowers and and initiate a backyard care corporation or different aspects and initiate a janitorial corporation. there are various roles which you will CREATE for your self. you would be able to desire to even attain returned and help some others that are presently on your undertaking. You commited a theft! You paid your debt and society has forgiven you (or you does not have been released). Now it's time to do what you're able to do to make your existence what you prefer it to be. you're able to try this. Please do not kill your self. Others are consistent with you. Your question exchange into ok written so that's sparkling which you at the instant are not stupid. it is your destiny which you're to help somebody else or a great number of of somebody elses. you're able to try this!

You're never too old to start college. 22 is not too old at all. There are a lot of middle-aged adults with families who are going back to school too, just because the job market demands workers with degrees these days. There are lots of people in every college class who are "nontraditional" students. No big deal at all.

You are never too old, to go to school. My mother went to college, and got her degree in her late 50's! She is working her first professional job now.

It is very important, in fact MOST important that you manage your discomfort for your past criminal record. Worry has a tendency to manifest reality faster than any other approach. Work on the skills you have to offer and focus on your strengths and how to let them shine louder then your weaknesses and you will be fine.

At the end of the day, employers are looking for someone who can help them solve problems. Listen well to the needs, and align your responses in interviews to how you would work for THEM. That matters more than what you did 4 years ago-- unless your intention is to recommit, allow this to pass with action towards making more productive choices!

You can do it!

If you feel that 22 is too old to go to college, consider this: When I was in college at the University of Rochester in 1989-92 their was a woman who was 60 who was just starting on her Russian Language Degree with the rest of us 18-22 year olds. If she did not think she was too old then you certainly are not too old!!! Do not go too hard on yourself for what you did when you were a stupid 18 year old. You learned from your mistake and now you are trying to make a life for yourself. Go for it and do not let one past mistake stop you from making a life for yourself.

You are definitely not too old. I know a guy who is going to college for the first time and he is 25 . . . . AND he is going to be living in the dorm! There's plenty of people of all ages in college. So don't worry about that part.
