I read the book PREY By Michael Chriton and it spoke about small naomachines that took on a form of their own. being able to think on their own.

Well...thats one time ive heard nanomachines mentioned. however....

mainly...i heard of nanomachines in a video game. metal gear solid. where the main characters, working for secret government services. anyways....calls would be taking in frequencies using these nanomachines. is this possible? if so, how?

in the game the characters had these nanomachines in their ears, i pressume. small enough no one could notice yet able enough to be able to receive and make frequency calls.

If nanomachines became self-replicating, they would quickly take over the planet, and convert it into a seething mass of nano-bots. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-replicating_machine

Nanotechnology is a highly speculative science right now. Current nanotechnology is mostly just building static structures on a nanometer scale. These include carbon nanotubes and silver nanoparticles.

Nanomachines are currently science fiction, but are a plausible look into what we could develop in the future. Nanomachines would probably include any structures made at the nanometer scale with moving parts, probably programmable by computer. If you understood the plot of Prey, you probably got a lot of why nanomachines would be great innovations.

There are a lot of hurdles scientists have to go through before we can make nanomachines reality. Understanding the properties of materials on this scale is still pretty new, and research is being undergone daily to develop them.

You could speculate any number of possibilities for future technology, and you'd probably be right. A century ago, the thought of flying over an ocean in a gigantic metal tube with wings was unheard of. Today's science fiction could be tomorrow's science fact.

Depends on what you mean when you say a real stand. The libertarian party is taking a stand, they're dedicated to getting members of the party elected and changing the way the government works, changing it to the way the founding fathers envisioned it.The most effective way is to support the right things and help getting as many people across the country to support what you want. If you can succeed in doing so, the government will be forced to listen, unless you give them the means to lock you up or silence you. I'm fully willing to take a real stand, and so are many people.

well.. all i know is what u have heard about nanomachine is all under nanotechnology. it covers the inventions of microscopic robotic body whereby it is used for medical purposes and much more.in the scope of medical purposes, these nanobots are sent inside a persons body and do some repairing such as;to clear the cloged arteries and blood vessels etcetera. 4 more info, juz search the net

i've read of them being used in the field of science...specifically being injected into the blood stream to 'clean' out the arteries. as i remember this was being done on an experitmental basis but they found it really helped with clogged arteries and had hopes for making it used on a regualr basis but its very expensive.
