I think that your question has been misinterpreted by some people. I think what you are asking for is how do I know that my business is successful? Only you can answer that question. to some being successful in business means profits, the more the better. To a few, success is measured by the number of people that their company has helped. When I get my business started, I will measure success by a combination of helping people and profits.

doanld trump once gave his answer to this. he did say that it is a very difficult thing to define. for some people, it could mean a happy family. to some, it could be finanical success. everyone's ideals are different, you have to find what that mean to you.
