I haven't come across this question before, but I have had the idea a few times when I was working on Yahoo Answers.

Whenever I answer a question I try to come up with the best answer I can. So I read the question carefully, and I read it a few times so I can shape my answer into a good one. Then I do some research on the subject to prove my point. A few times I found that I was in error in my opinion or with my knowledge.

Another thing I like to do is to distance myself from the question and approach it from a new point of view. Everyone has their own take on things and if you want to get something new then you need to be brave enough to look at it new.

For example when you look at the differences between men and women and how to explain them I looked at it from the purely biological point of view. So men reach sexual climax pretty quickly not because they are selfish, but because the best way for a human male to reproduce is to have sex with as many women and as frequently as possible. This also explains why men seem like butterflies going from girl to girl. Now if you look at the female point of view (strictly from how her genes are designed) then you realize that a woman doesn't reach her sexual climax quickly, because if the male remains around and goes deep then the woman has a better chance of getting pregnant. Since a woman's sexual climax is internal it is possible for them to fake it. Since a man's sexual climax happens outside of his body it it almost impossible for men to fake it.

You can go on to other things like why do women wear makeup and want to attract men. A guy wants to visit as many women as possible and for a woman to conceive, carry a child to term, and raise it the woman not only has to attract a mate, but she has to hold on to him, which is why she needs to make herself pretty and maintain it.

Now our genes don’t control us all, but these form the basics for our instincts and the default thoughts and feelings that we have. But, looking at it this way gives you a new point of view. Do this for a while and you might even open your eyes and see other people and their problems from their point of view. If that happens then you will find yourself becoming more and more open minded. If too much of this happens then we might actually see a break out in peace.

All this means is simply to challenge someone else's ideas, you have know what yours are. Basically this deals with being in tune with one's self. Its involuntary.

It is the same thing as "to be able to love, you have to love yourself" sure its not wrong, but it is one of those statements made by someone who wants to show that they are smarter than us lowly people.
