I remember that terrible day So vividly, I remember how beautiful the Morning weather was that Morning. I was cooking bacon for breakfast for my son. My husbands friend called me and said turn on the news, something terrible is happening (only 1 tower was hit). I asked him after looking at the tv for a min or two in disbelief....What is happening? He replied...I think we are under attack. Just a second went by and in real time we together saw the 2nd tower be hit on live tv....Together we were screaming...Oh My god! The worst part of that day was when I saw the tower crumble on live tv before my eyes. I felt in the bottom of my stomach that I would get sick. I fell in front of my tv...and just cried...WHY??? Why is this happening to us? To this day I will never forget that Morning. SO Beautiful.....and to end so sad.

I posted this question after watching the movie World Trade Center with Nicholas Cage. The entire movie as things were unfolding I could remeber what I was doing in my own life. I am so gratful that I was praying the entire day, and now I realize that my prayers were not in vain after watching this horrific movie that shows you what went on to to surviving people inside that rubble. I just wanted to thank everyone for their stories, and to say one thing....We are all here to help each other and reach other whenever possible...even for a stranger.

Bangkok Thailand. I was watching CNBC and it hit the building behind the commentator as he was talking live. He turned in his chair so the camera got the whole shot and said I believe there is a fire in one of the twin towers.
Then 20 minutes later the second tower was hit. And then later he announced another plane just hit the Pentagon.
The next day some of the Thai staff at work were mocking the Americans with laughter and sounds of explosions.

I was at work in NY when a woman came in screaming the news. My first impression was that it was an accident, and that there were as many as 10,000 deaths. I had to go to NYC several months prior to 9-11 and drove by the WTC's, and I dreaded hearing the news because I thought many more had died than reported. I had the only radio in the office. I cranked it up so everyone could hear. One lady actually laughed, walked over and turned down the volume. I told her to never touch my radio again. Every employee went in our front yard, we joined hands and said a prayer, then sung "God Bless America". After that, we were sent home for the day. Very sad time.

On the morning of 9/11 I was standing in the family room and the phone rang my sister-in-law from out of town called me to tell us what was happening in NYC at the Trade towers. Of course I turned on TV to CNN and recall Aaron Brown telling everyone what was going on with his calm soothing voice. That was when the first plane had already hit the first tower. Then when the second one came it was like you wanted to reach out through the TV screen and keep it from hitting the second one. . For that day and many to come I along with many others stayed glued to the news constantly. It was the same feeling when President John F. Kennedy died..like the world stood still. Some cameras showed the people falling from the tall towers the couple a man and woman hand in hand ..I've often thought of them and what it was like for them to do this what courage to jump from the fire and smoke filled towers. ...or some standing yelling for help at the smoke filled windows....everyone who witnessed it on TV or who were actually there to see it being eye witnesses will never forget the words and images used on that date. Every year when 9/11 comes we stop and say...."Did it really happen" "how did it happen" Why? We know it did but there will always be many questions asked....may all those who lost their lives rest in peace and peace finally come to those who lost loved ones.

I was at home, getting ready for the day.The television was on,and then my stepfather rang my mother to tell her that the WTC had been hit.At that moment the breaking news came on the television, and shortly after came the news about the second plane. Then it was broadcast that all the countries were on red alert in case of other terror attacks. That day, everybody was in a state of shock, and people were talking to each other in the street about it,and comforting each other.
I don't think anyone will ever be able to forget that day,it's seared in everyone's memory.

I'm an Aussie, so the time is differant. Got up in the morning and had about 15 minutes to waste before taking my son for a hearing check-up. My ex turned the TV on, and we thought it was a movie!

I was in the south of Ireland. I saw some news report on the TV, but it did not make an impression right away. Later that night, I was in a pub savouring pints of Guinness when I saw the news on a big screen TV. My first reaction was - this was not a freak accident, this required planning.
The group of Americans in the pub took it much more personally, they immediatley tried to call home on their cell phones. They were nearly crying. What did impress me the most were the Irish people, offering their condolences, and quickly announcing a day of mourning for those who had died in the event.

Had just walked in the door, returning from dropping off a vehicle for an oil change at the dealership . . . CNN news was on the tube (which I had left on, before leaving). . . the first tower had been hit, then I saw the second one.
It brought back to mind the shock and impact the news of Kennedy being shot caused in my life, many years before, and then the memory of the big blackout in NY, a few years before that (I was in college, in NJ at the time).
These horrendous events will leave an imprint on one's memory for the rest of one's life. . . allowing you to remember where you were, and what you were doing - when you heard the news.
