Here's a favorite of mine related to work:

"The sad news is, nobody owes you a career. Your career is literally your business. You own it as a sole proprietor. You have one employee: yourself."
- Andrew S. Grove

Here's one related to life, in general:

"I cannot believe that the purpose of life is to be happy. I think the purpose of life is to be useful, to be responsible, to be compassionate. It is, above all to matter, to count, to stand for something, to have made some difference that you lived at all."
- Leo Rosten

And a final one to ponder:

" 'There are no atheists in foxholes' isn’t an argument against atheism, it’s an argument against foxholes."
- James Morrow

"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give". -- Winston Churchill This has kept me working at a homeless shelter even though they are having financial problems, & can't pay us on a regular basis. I'm a live-in employee because I can't afford a place of my own, but these circumstances keep me in touch w/ the clients & their outlooks & needs. There are many different reasons for the homeless to be here, & their needs also vary. My children are grown, I'm single, & I have only my own needs for which I'm concerned. There's a life lesson to be learned here, & I feel like it would be forsaking God to turn my back at this time. I've been given talents that fit in here, & I feel like I've been divinely prepared to be here prior to becoming homeless myself. Yes, I was a resident here for about 6 1/2 months before the job was offered -- that's why I still live here. ()~:)>

the beauty in falling is that you get the chance to get back up on your feet. rock bottom isn't necessarily the worst place to be unless you tell yourself that it's the end of the line. rock bottom's just another place, a point where you could realize what you did wrong and find your way back up.

Mine starts:
"Desperado, why don't you come to your senses...
get down from your fence and open the gate.
You know its raining, but theres a rainbow above you.
You'd better let somebody love you...

Today is the first day of the rest of your life.

Something's coming, something good.

It's in every one of us to be wise.

'Tis a gift to be simple, 'tis a gift to be free.

If you aren't part of the solution, you're part of the problem.
